CrossFit Helped Me Discover What My Body is Capable of
I have been doing CrossFit for almost a year and what a journey it has been! For the first 2-3 weeks I was so sore that I seriously couldn’t even walk down stairs. I wish I was exaggerating, but I’m not. I had to find alternative ways to get places. I remember days that I couldn’t lift my arms over my head. I almost quit. I thought I was seriously damaging my body.
But I stuck with it, thankfully. For the next 2-3 months I was sore a lot, but not crippled by it. I started to see improvement in the WODs and Oly lifts. By improvement I mean that I could at least do them! I wasn’t great, but I finished. This phase was motivational enough that I really committed to CrossFit and looked forward to it every day.
Then in January of this year I started Paleo. Wow. Not easy to change my foodstyle at all. I love all kinds of breads. I love cheese. I love desserts. I love beer. I had to say goodbye to all of it. Very hard, but worth it. I’ve never felt better in my life and I’ve never been so ripped. I can see the muscle striations in my chest and shoulders. My veins have popped out everywhere, now that my fat layer is pretty much gone. I have 6-pack abs for the first time in 25 years and am starting to see veins in my stomach. Lean, hard, and feeling more capable than ever.
That’s the biggest change now. I’m starting to feel like a beast. I can do things with my body that I wouldn’t even have dreamed of before. Strength and gymnastic moves that I never imagined I would do. Climbing up and down a rope with my arms only over and over again. Doing dead hang pull-ups and pulling hard enough to clear the bar and clap at the top. Throwing twice my bodyweight around with lifts. Pushing my bodyweight overhead. Etc etc.
It is an amazing feeling. You gotta try it. Getting your body into the best physical shape you could ever imagine lets you become your own superhero and that’s something very few people get to experience. Go for it!
Outstanding. I hope to see those types of changes soon.
Thanks! Stick with it and I’m sure you will
